All in one cloth diapers are, as the name suggests, a one-piece cloth diaper system.
Also known as AIO diapers, all in one diapers work like disposable diapers, except they are made of different material and are washed and reused, not thrown out.
All in one cloth diapers are extremely easy to use. They require no special folding or other preparation and are great for diapering on the go and for caregivers who may not be confident using other types of cloth diapers that require more preparation.
AIO diapers are made of a soft inner layer that wicks moisture away from your baby's skin, an absorbent middle layer (soaker), and a waterproof outer layer. AIO cloth diapers typically have velcro closures, and some close with snaps. They do not require a separate cover, and they come in a huge variety of colors and fabrics.
Because the soaker is sewn right into the all in one diaper, these diapers typically take longer to dry when compared with two piece diaper systems. They are also pricier than prefold diapers, and the waterproof outer layer may not last as long as a separate waterproof diaper cover would, because it will be washed more frequently (with two piece diaper systems, the diaper cover is washed less often because it can be reused for a few changes as long as it is not wet).
Some all in one diapers come with a pocket feature. This feature allows you to insert a doubler into the pocket of the AIO diaper in order to provide some extra absorbency for heavy wetters or night time use.
Similar to the all in one diaper is the all in two diaper. An all in two diaper is basically an all in one diaper with a removable absorbent layer. This style of cloth diaper is made of a diaper cover combined with an absorbent layer (soaker) that snaps into place.
An all in two diaper will dry faster than an AIO diaper because the soaker can be removed. Also, with an all in two, you can reuse the diaper cover as long as it remains dry. Simply remove the wet soaker and replace it with a dry one. Your all in two covers may last longer than the waterproof layer on an AIO cloth diaper because they won't be washed as frequently.
All in twos require no folding because the soaker layer is shaped to fit right into the cover. Also, you can put the diaper together ahead of time, which makes this diaper and easy style to use for changing on the go and for caregivers who are not accustomed to folding other types of cloth diapers.
